Loss in MPSF title game doesn’t banish CU Buffs lacrosse from national polls

Cali Castagnola and the CU women’s lacrosse team must wait to learn their destination for the NCAA Tournament.

While the Colorado women’s lacrosse team was able to advance to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship game for the first time, the Buffs dropped a 16-11 decision Sunday against USC. However, the loss didn’t prevent CU from remaining in the top 10 of all three national polls released Monday.

CU (16-3) is ranked ninth in the Nike/U.S. Lacrosse Magazine poll and is 10th in the IWLCA Coaches and Cascade/Inside Lacrosse Magazine polls.

Colorado is on the verge on making its first NCAA Tournament berth, with the 26-team field set to be announced on Sunday at 7 p.m. MDT on NCAA.com. All three of the Buffs’ losses this season have occurred against top-10 teams — USC twice and Stony Brook.
