University of Colorado sophomore alpine skier Ola Johansen was named the RMISA Skier of the Week for his performance at the 2017 RMISA/NCAA West Regional Championships last weekend at Beaver Creek.
This is the second time in Johansen’s career that he has been named the RMISA Skier of the Week. The first time came in his freshman season after the Montana State Invitational.
Johansen was also the RMISA MVP for men’s alpine last season.
Over the past weekend at the RMISA Championships, Johansen had his best meet of the season. He placed second in the slalom for his third podium finish on the year and had a sixth place finish in the giant slalom.
His second run time of 53.42 in the giant slalom was the fastest in the field on run two and that was his second run that he won this season.
Johansen has finished in the top 10 in five of his nine races this season. He missed three races on the collegiate circuit due to a shoulder injury.
Now, Johansen is set for his second NCAA Championship.
