Seniors Danica Evans and Morgan Stanton earned Offensive and Defensive Most Valuable Player awards, respectively, and freshman Taylor Kornieck was the Newcomer Award recipient at the Colorado women’s soccer team’s 2016 awards banquet Saturday night in the Bryon R. White Club at Folsom Field.

Other winners were senior Kenzie Tillitt, who took home the Herbst Academic honor, and junior Courtney Fedor, who was the Sports Performance Award recipient.

A complete list of the award winners is included below.

Colorado celebrated its 20th season as a Division I program this school year and made it count, finishing 15-6-1 overall and 8-2-1 in the Pac-12. The Buffs reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

“We talked about how this was a bounce back season,” said Colorado head coach Danny Sanchez. “This year for me personally was awesome and I want to thank the team for their commitment to the team this season. Early in the season we dropped three straight and we could have packed up shop, but we didn’t and myself and the coaching staff couldn’t be more proud of this group.”
