Olympic Trials: Ex-Buff Hunsucker finishes 15th in hammer throw

Former Buffalo Emily Hunsucker finished 15th overall on Wednesday afternoon in the hammer throw at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team Trials.

Hunsucker, CU’s record holder in the event (212-11) was 11th out of 12 in the first flight after two throws (193-8). She then moved up to fourth place after her third and final attempt of 207-1.

By the time the second flight was competed, Hunsucker dropped to 15th overall, outside of the necessary top-nine finish to make the finals. Nike’s Amber Campbell won the meet with a mark of 242-10 and Gwen Berry (Nike/NYAC) was second with a throw of 239-9. Southern Illinois’ Deanna Price came in third place, also with a mark of 239-9.
