The Colorado Buffaloes football program has renewed yet another rivalry among their former foes from the Big 12 Conference.

As usual, though, fans are going to have to be more than a little patient to see the renewal unfold.

On Thursday, the university announced a number of additions and alterations to its future football schedules, a list highlighted by a home-and-home set against Kansas State slated to begin in Boulder on Sept. 18, 2027. CU will return the trip to Manhattan, Kan., on Sept. 16, 2028.

The former league rivals have squared off 66 times, with the Buffs holding a 45-20-1 series lead. CU won a wild 44-36 affair in the teams’ final meeting in 2010 before the Buffs joined the Pac-12 Conference. K-State is the third former Big 12 rival added to CU’s future schedules, with a four-game contract with Nebraska and a home-and-home set against Texas A&M already in place. The Nebraska series begins in 2018 and the Texas A&M games begin in 2020.

Additionally, the Buffs will host North Dakota State on Aug. 31, 2024 in that year’s opener. CU has never faced NDSU, which has won the past five national championships in the Football Championship Subdivision.

Finally, CU announced a 2019 home date against Fresno State and a 2020 matchup against Air Force have been switched as an accommodation for those schools to complete future schedules. Instead, the Falcons will face the Buffs at Folsom Field on Sept. 14, 2019 in the state rivals’ first matchup since 1974.

Fresno State will visit Boulder on Sept. 12, 2020.
