Colorado’s tennis team will host No. 20 UCLA and No. 27 Southern California this weekend. CU will take on UCLA on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center in Boulder. Sunday’s match vs. USC will take place outdoors at 11 a.m. at CU’s South Campus Tennis Complex, weather permitting.
The Buffaloes (6-11, 1-5 Pac-12) are led this season by 74th-ranked Nuria Ormeño Ruiz, who has a 20-9 overall record and is 5-4 at the No. 1 singles position. She and Jeannez Daniel have also moved into the No. 1 doubles position together, posting a 4-2 mark.
UCLA (11-4, 3-1 Pac-12) is ranked No. 20 in this week’s national rankings. Catherine Harrison is the team’s leader, ranked No. 18 nationally and holding a 24-8 record. She and Kyle McPhillips are the seventh-ranked doubles pair in the nation and are 12-1 together.
USC (8-4, 3-0 Pac-12) is ranked 27th this week. Giuliana Olmos is the 22nd-ranked player in the country and is 14-9 overall, including 9-3 at the No. 1 position. Olmos and Gabby Smith are ranked eighth nationally in doubles.
