CU tennis: No. 1 singles player Tina Bokhua leaves program

University of Colorado tennis player Tina Bokhua decided this week that she will leave the program and transfer elsewhere at the end of the spring semester.

In an emailed statement Friday, CU head coach Nicole Kenneally said, “As of Wednesday, Tina is no longer a part of our tennis program for personal reasons. She will transfer elsewhere after she completes this semester at Colorado. We appreciate the contributions she made to the team and wish her the best of luck in the future.”

After being named the Mountain Region Rookie of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association her freshman year, Bokhua, a native of Moscow, Russia, entered her sophomore year this season at the No. 1 spot for the Buffaloes.

On Feb. 10 this year, she was ranked No. 42 in Division I singles but fell to 110th just two weeks later.

CU’s tennis team will host in-state rival Colorado State on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the CU South Campus Tennis Complex.
