University of Colorado lacrosse player Sarah Brown was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for her performance in CU’s 11-10 win at the University of Denver.
Brown, a sophomore from Boulder (Boulder High School), finished the game with three caused turnovers, three draw controls and two ground balls. She also assisted on a goal early in the first half. Her most important moment in the game came when she caused a turnover with 29 seconds left, sealing the one-goal victory as the Buffaloes were able to maintain possession for the remainder of the game.
The midfielder was making her first career start on Friday after appearing in just two games as a reserve in 2015.
Colorado (1-0, 1-0 MPSF) will play at Fresno State at 1 p.m. MT on Sunday.
