CU soccer: Four-star recruit listed among five signees for Buffs

The Colorado soccer team announced its new class of players on Thursday, signing five players to national letters of intent.

CU signed central midfielder/defender Kelsey Aaknes of Carlsbad, Calif.; outside midfielder Juliana Guthner of West Linn, Ore.; central midfielder Taylor Kornieck of Henderson, Nev.; forward Camilla Shymka of Calgary, Alberta; and forward Kennedy Yost of Pocatello, Idaho.

“We are very excited to add these five outstanding student-athletes to our university and soccer program,” head coach Danny Sanchez said on the school website. “They bring tremendous experiences from playing a high level of club up through national team experience. With the loss of our seven seniors, each of them will have an opportunity to make an impact on our program next fall.”

According to CU, Kornieck is one of the most decorated athletes to ever sign with the Buffs. Top Drawer Soccer listed her as a four-star recruit and the 38th-ranked player in the country. She is a captain for the United States U-18 women’s national team.
