Colorado landed a big-time recruit on the eve of signing day.
Late Tuesday night, Beau Bisharat, from Carmichael, Calif., announced he is coming to Boulder.
“After much consideration, I have decided to commit to the University of Colorado! #CoffeeIsForClosers #CUin16,” Bisharat tweeted at 10:38 p.m.
A four-star recruit from Jesuit High School, the 6-foot-3, 203-pound Bisharat made an official visit to CU last week. Assistant coach Klayton Adams was his primary recruiter.
Bisharat ran for 1,036 yards on 113 carries (9.2 average) as a senior. He was also Jesuit’s top receiver, with 15 catches for 189 yards and two scores.
Bisharat reportedly had narrowed his choices to Colorado and California, but chose the Buffs because they will allow him to play running back. Cal wanted him as a linebacker.
A former Stanford commit, Bisharat was also being heavily pursued by Arizona State and Nebraska, and national champion Alabama had thrown its hat into the ring. He had scholarship offers from several other schools, including Arizona, Michigan, Michigan State, Oregon, Oregon State, Utah, Washington and Washington State.
Bisharat is the 14th high school player to give a verbal commitment to CU ahead of Wednesday’s signing day. The Buffs also have three junior college transfers and former Texas Tech quarterback Davis Webb committed.
