CU women’s basketball: Freshman Monica Burich out for season with torn ACL

Freshman Monica Burich tore the ACL in her left knee late last month and will miss the upcoming season for the Colorado women’s basketball team.

A 6-foot-2 forward, Burich was injured during a routine drill at practice.

“We all feel for Monica and hope for a very speedy recovery,” head coach Linda Lappe said in a press release. “Even though injuries are a part of sports, it’s always hard to lose a team member for the season.

“Monica is a fighter and is one of the most positive people I know, so we’re confident she will come out of this stronger and better than ever.”

Burich averaged 18.7 points and nine rebounds per game as a senior at Roseville (Minn.) High School.
