Jordan Carrell

Position: Defensive tackle

Height: 6-foot-3

Weight: 280 pounds

Year: Junior

Numbers: In his first year as a Buff, the junior college transfer has been a vital part of the defense. So far, he has played 83.1 percent of the snaps on defense, which would be the sixth most in program history among defensive linemen if he keeps it up. He’s played 89 percent of the snaps in Pac-12 play. Carrell has 35 tackles, five of them for a loss, and his 10 quarterback pressures ranks second on the team.

Potential impact vs. Stanford: Carrell’s greatest asset is his ability to play the run game. Going against Stanford’s strong run game, Carrell and his fellow defensive linemen are going to have to be on their games this week. It starts with Carrell, who is the rock of the line.

He said it: “We just have to hit them first and stay square and just do our assignments. If we execute, everybody together, we’ll make some plays. It’s going to be a fight in the trenches, but that’s what linemen are born for. We’re going to be ready.”
