Fast break

What went right: The fight that often carries CU through games was there for much of the might, keeping them in the game for most of the first three quarters.

What went wrong: CU's defense just couldn't stop the Beavers, who hit 10 of their first 12 shots and 61.8 percent for the game. The Buffs were also dominated on the boards, 39-28.

Star of the game: Alexis Robinson. She had 24 points, tied her season-high with four assists and kept the Buffs in the game for the first 27 minutes.

What's next: CU visits No. 4 Oregon on Sunday.

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Three quarters into the game on Friday night, the Colorado women's basketball team was playing about as well as could be expected, yet trailed by 22 points.

The shorthanded Buffaloes were simply no match for No. 9 Oregon State, falling 89-65 at Gill Coliseum.

Colorado's slide continues, as the Buffs (10-10, 0-9 Pac-12) have lost nine in a row and matched the worst start to conference play in program history. The 2015-16 Buffs also started 0-9.

Senior Alexis Robinson scored 24 points and kept the Buffs in the game for a while, but the Beavers (18-3, 8-1) dominated down the stretch.

CU trailed by 18 at halftime, but a Robinson 3-pointer and Quinessa Caylao-Do free throw helped cut the deficit to 12 with four minutes to play in the third quarter.

Over the next 8 minutes, Oregon State went on a 22-2 run to stretch the lead to 32 points and bury the Buffs.

CU senior point guard Kennedy Leonard missed her sixth consecutive game with a foot injury, and she will also miss Sunday's game at No. 4 Oregon.

Robinson did her best to pick up the slack, while getting some help from Mya Hollingshed, who finished with 16 points and six rebounds.

Caylao-Do finished with 14 points, scoring 11 of those in the final three minutes of the game.

Destiny Slocum scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Beavers. Sophomore Aleah Goodman, getting her first career start, scored a career-high 25 points.

Oregon State hit 10-of-14 shots from 3-point range, with Goodman going 6-for-6.
