ITTA BENA, Miss. — It was tougher than expected, but the Colorado women's basketball team managed to keep its winning streak alive on Saturday.

Sophomores Kennedy Leonard and Alexis Robinson both scored 20 points to lead the 15th-ranked Buffaloes to a 76-64 win against host Mississippi Valley State at R.W. Harrison HPER Complex.

CU is enjoying just the fifth 10-0 start to a season in program history, but needed to get through its sloppiest game of the season on Saturday.

"Coach (JR Payne) just mentioned how a championship team comes in and handles business," Robinson said in a CU press release. "And I think winning the game shows that we have some toughness, but coming in and not handling business like we should have shows that we need to get more mentally tough every day."

A season-high 24 turnovers and season-low six assists by the Buffs helped to keep the host Devilettes (3-6) in the game most of the afternoon.

The Buffs spent much in the game in foul trouble, as well. Haley Smith and Monica Burich both fouled out, while Zoe Correal and Makenzie Ellis both finished with four fouls.

CU actually trailed by seven points early in the second quarter, but rallied for a 32-30 lead at intermission. The Buffs pulled away in the second half to win by double digits for the 10th time this season.

The Buffs opened the second half on a 9-1 run, capped by a Leonard 3-pointer to stake them to a 41-31 lead.

MVSU pulled within four with 7 minutes, 29 seconds to play in the fourth quarter, but CU pulled away. Leonard was 9-for-12at the line in the final 3:01.

The Buffs forced 32 turnovers, 19 of those on steals.

Leonard, who came into the game averaging 6.4 assists and two turnovers per game, had just one assist and a season-high seven turnovers. She also missed five of seven shots from the floor, but went 15-for-20 from the free throw line and racked up six steals.

Leonard set a CU single-game record for free throws attempted and tied the mark for free throws made.

Robinson hit the 20-point mark for the third time in her career, going eight-for-16 from the floor.

Ariana Freeman provided her usual spark off the bench, scoring 15 points, grabbing seven rebounds and picking up four steals for the Buffs. Correal just missed a double-double, finishing with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Ashley Beals led MVSU with 27 points and 10 rebounds and Christina Reed added 22 points.

"I just really love that we stuck together when we were down and were getting beat, we never splintered," Payne said. "We had each other's back, no matter who came into the game."

CU will close out the non-conference schedule on Wednesday when Wyoming visits Boulder.
