Per NCAA rules, the Buffs could have started practices last week, but Lappe purposely waited until this week.
"I just think it gets to be long (if practice starts early)," Lappe said. "I remember this time before our first game. It's really, really important. At the same time, you want to make sure it stays fresh, it stays fun.
"We've had great success in the non-conference, so (starting late) hasn't really hurt us to this point, so why change?"
The Buffs are 22-0 in non-conference play the past two seasons combined.
Wilson wore a walking boot at practice on Tuesday, but she should be back on the floor soon. ... Reese is going without goggles for now. She injured her eye on Feb. 23, 2012, at Stanford and wore protective goggles throughout the 2012-13 season. ... Alexus Atchley, a freshman walk-on last year, left CU and is now playing at Washington. The Buffs have had a walk-on in each of the past two seasons, but Lappe said they are not actively looking to add one this year.
