LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Buffs` losing streak is over, and all it took was another match against Texas Tech.

The Colorado volleyball team has struggled the past few weeks during a seven-match losing streak, but the losing ways ended on Saturday against the lowly Red Raiders.

The Buffs survived three close sets to sweep Texas Tech 25-21, 25-22, 25-18, and earn just their second Big 12 victory of the year. CU`s other conference win also came against the Red Raiders, a 3-1 match on Oct. 14 in Boulder.

"This match was important for us because we have struggled at times this season with being able to put complete sets together with high level plays and we really needed to have a good performance (Saturday), as much for our team confidence as for our overall development," CU coach Liz Kritza said.

The victory put the Buffs at 7-17 overall (2-13 Big 12), while the Red Raiders fell to 2-20 and 0-13. Texas Tech has won only one set during Big 12 play.

CU`s seven-game skid wasn`t the only streak to fall on Saturday. The win was just the second road victory for the Buffs this season and the team`s first on the road in the Big 12 since Oct. 8, 2008.

"(Saturday`s) offensive performance was much closer to the results that this offensive should produce," Kritza said. "(Kaitlyn) Burkett was able to distribute the ball more evenly on both pins and thus giving her hitters better opportunities to score."

Becah Fogle led the Buffs offensively and defensively. The sophomore outside hitter had a career and match-high 15 digs match-high 14 kills.

The Buffs will see if they can start a winning streak on Wednesday when they travel to Baylor for a 6 p.m. match.
