The University of Colorado women's golf team put on an impressive performance Friday, taking a six-stroke lead into the second round of the Clover Cup in Mesa, Ariz. The Buffs shot a 4-over 292 for the day at the Longbow Golf Club, ahead of Michigan's 298 and the 299 posted by both Notre Dame and Louisville.
Senior Jenny Coleman was the best of the Buffs, shooting a 3-under 69 to claim second place individually. Coleman had just one bogey on the day while dropping four birdies, moving her career total to a program-best 294 birdies.
Notre Dame's Kristina Nhim leads after firing a 68.
Sophomore Alexis Keating also had a good showing, shooting a 1-under 71 which was good enough to tie for fifth place. Though Keating struggled a bit through the middle of her round, she closed out her day on a strong note, birdieing three of the final four holes.
Senior Kristin Coleman and sophomore Jamie Oleksiew are tied for 19th after shooting 4-over 76s. Freshman Natalie Vivaldi carded a 5-over 77 in just her fourth collegiate tournament, good for 33rd.
