Does the better doubles player play the ad side? There are a couple of thoughts on this because some people think the better player plays the ad points as this can be the side at 30-40 or 40-30 or the ad points. It is important to remember that both the ad and the deuce can are as important as getting a good start in a game. It also depends upon what side someone is more comfortable returning from. If a player has a wicked inside out backhand return then you may want to put them on the deuce side (if they are right handed). Likewise a player just may have a hard time hitting one shot, i.e. backhand crosscourt return, and then that player may play the deuce side so they don't have to hit a traditional cross court return.
