Taylor Kornieck blasted a free kick into the net in the 56th minute as Colorado beat Arizona 1-0 in Tucson, Ariz., on Thursday. The match, which was delayed 30 minutes due to lightning, was the sixth consecutive win for the Buffaloes.

CU improved to 8-3-0 on the season and 2-0-0 in the Pac-12, eclipsing last season's win total of seven. It is the first time since the Buffs joined the Pac-12 in 2011 that they have started conference play with two wins.

Kornieck's shot came from 22 yards out and bounced off the bottom of the crossbar and into the net, out of reach of the Arizona goalkeeper. It was her team-leading seventh goal of the season and her fourth game-winning goal of the year.

"I thought we played well. Arizona is a tough team to play. They put you under a lot of pressure and I felt that we did a good job of keeping the ball when we won it and really limiting their dangerous stuff in the final third," head coach Danny Sanchez said. "It got a little helter skelter in the final 10 minutes, but you're going to expect that because obviously they were pushing for the goal. But before that, I thought we did a really good job of keeping the ball and creating chances and Taylor put us ahead."

Goalie Jalen Tompkins continued her shutout streak, stretching it to 349:39.

CU will play at Arizona State at 4 p.m. MT on Sunday. That match will be televised on Pac-12 Mountain Network.
