Darcy Jerman scored her first goal of the season, lifting the Colorado soccer team to a 1-0 victory against Northern Colorado on Sunday at Prentup Field.
The Buffaloes (2-0) improved to 8-0 all-time against the Bears (1-1), outscoring them 20-0 in those games.
CU also improved to 2-0 in the fourth annual Colorado Cup, an event that features all six of the state's Division I teams. Cup play continues throughout the season.
The game was still scoreless when the Buffs finally took advantage of an opportunity in the 61st minute with a corner kick.
Kahlia Hogg took the corner and launched it toward the UNC net. Bears keeper Kaitlin Ruff got a hand on the ball, but deflected it off the cross bar and directly to Jerman. The senior quickly tapped it in to break the scoreless tie.
UNC nearly tied the game in the closing minutes. Junior Essence Ortiz-Laneir got a one-on-one opportunity against CU goalkeeper Kate Scheele. Ortiz-Laneir lofted a shot over Scheele's head, but it smacked the crossbar and bounced into Scheele's hands.
The Buffs held on from there to remain unbeaten and unscored upon this season.
