Just seconds away from a solid result on the road, the Colorado soccer team suffered another crushing defeat.

Arizona State's Cali Farquharson scored with 22 seconds to play in the second overtime Sunday night, handing CU a 2-1 loss at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.

Colorado (8-8-3, 2-7-1 Pac-12) had won two in a row coming in, but Sunday's loss was its sixth one-goal defeat in conference play. It was also the Buffs' third overtime loss in the Pac-12.

The game seemed to be headed for a tie, until Arizona State (9-8-2, 5-4-1) got the winner.

Courtney Tinnin passed the ball to Farquharson, who spun to the left away from her defender and put a low line drive past CU goalkeeper Annie Brunner.

Two minutes earlier, the Buffs had their only great chance of the overtime periods. Off a corner kick, Olivia Pappalardo headed the ball toward the net, but CU was unable to get a shot off during the sequence.

The Sun Devils got on the board first in the 19th minute. Sierra Joseph booted a free kick from near midfield and teammate Devin Marshall headed the ball into a perfect spot, just under the cross bar but just out of reach for a leaping Brunner.

CU did not buckle after that goal. Instead, the Buffs tightened up on defense and in the final minutes of the first half picked up its intensity on offense. Storie Ledger took a shot that was blocked by a Sun Devil defender. The rebound went directly to Amy Barczuk, who put the shot into the left side of the net to tie the game for the Buffs in the 40th minute.

Despite the two goals allowed, Brunner had a great game for the Buffs in net. She stopped nine of the 11 shots she saw, including five saves in the second half and two great stops early in the second overtime.
