Jesse Knori, who became an All-American nordic ski racer for the University of Colorado despite suffering from rheumatoid arthritis since she was 12 years old, is one of three women who have been nominated for the Honda Inspiration Award.

Knori, who graduates this week with a degree in landscape architecture, sometimes raced in so much pain that teammates had to carry her from the finish line. She also endured the tragic death of her father - who died in a horseback-riding accident - while at CU where she was an inspiration to her teammates.

The award is given by the Collegiate Women Sports Awards committee to honor athletes who overcome extraordinary adversity, injury, illness or personal sacrifice to achieve success. The other women nominated are swimmers Bailey Scott of Alabama and Nicole Stafford of Alabama. The winner will be announced Thursday.
