The University of Colorado alpine teams opened up four days of skiing in Alaska Wednesday with the running of the men's and women's giant slalom races in the Seawolf Invitational at Alyeska Resort.

Colorado sits in sixth place with 114 points after the first day of competition that saw the Buffs record a pair of top 10 finishes.

Sophomore Tonje Trulsrud was the top finisher in the giant slalom for the women's alpine team, coming in sixth place. She has now finished in the top 10 in all seven races this season.

Max Luukko led the charge on the men's side, who as a team finished in fifth place with 59 points.

Luukko placed fifth Wednesday, his fifth finish this season being in the top five with four of those coming in giant slalom races.
