Bob Beattie, the patriarch of American skiing, dies at 85

<p>Bob Beattie created the concept of the U.S. Ski Team while coaching at the University of Colorado in the early 1960s, co-founded skiing's World Cup tour in 1966, enjoyed a successful career as a commentator for ABC's Wide World of Sports and remained an influential figure in the sport well into his 80s as an outspoken member of the ski team's trustees.</p>
