The University of Colorado women's tennis team opened the season on a strong note winning five of its six doubles matches Thursday at the CU invitational at the CU South Campus Tennis Complex in Boulder.

The Buffaloes are joined in the four-day tournament by competitors from Oklahoma, New Mexico and New Mexico State.

The format of Thursday's doubles action was two rounds of pre-determined matchups.

The Buffs only dropped one match in the first round. The duo of Jeannez Daniel and Annabelle Andrinopoulos battled Vanessa Valdez and Yadira Rubio from New Mexico State University and came out on top with a 6-4 victory. Brigitte Beck and freshman Linda Huang coasted to their win over New Mexico's Lauren Rich and Yue Lin Chen 6-1.

Louise Ronaldson and Chloe Hule fought a hard match coming back and playing tough but fell to Romero and Sethi from Oklahoma 7-6.

In the second round, the Buffs walked away with three straight victories. Chloe Hule and Louise Ronaldson took down Huang and Rich from UNM 6-2. Linda Huang and Annabelle Andrinopoulos hung tough to pull out the 6-3 victory over Chen and Copas of UNM while Jannez Daniel and Ilana Oleynik battled a tough one. The duo battled all the way to the end taking the 7-6 victory over UNM's Wong and Murgett.
