University of Colorado tennis player Nuria Ormeño Ruiz was named to the All-Pac-12 second team Friday in the conference's postseason awards voted by the coaches. It is the second conference award she has earned in her career as she was named to the honorable mention team last year.
A Barcelona, Spain native, Ormeño Ruiz led CU in her final season. Ormeño Ruiz recorded a 19-14 singles record including 10-10 in the No. 1 singles spot. She also had a team high 19 wins. Ormeño Ruiz had many senior year highlights including powering past No. 51 ranked Caroline Doyle of Stanford in April. She defeated Doyle 6-0, 6-4.
For her career, she posted an 80-50 career singles record, including 18-20 at the No. 1 singles position. She also went 58-52 in doubles play. She defeated a total of eight nationally ranked opponents during her career including six in singles play.
She ranks 18th in CU history in singles wins (69), 13th in singles winning percentage (.639) and 22nd in combined singles and doubles wins (113).
