For the second time this season, Colorado senior goalkeeper Paige Soenksen and sophomore midfielder Miranda Stinson have been selected the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.
The Buffaloes, who are currently ranked fourth in the Cascade/Inside Lacrosse media poll and seventh in the IWLCA Coaches' poll, improved to 7-0 on Sunday with a 16-11 decision over then-No. 6 Penn State. Both Soenksen and Stinson played major roles in the Buffs' victory.
Soenksen, who has now been named the MPSF Defensive Player of the Week seven times in her career, recorded 16 saves against the Nittany Lions, stopping eight shots in each half. She allowed 11 goals for a .593 save percentage. Soenksen currently leads the NCAA in save percentage (.602) and goals against average (6.61).
Stinson, who was named Alpha Lacrosse National Player of the Week on Tuesday, scored nine points in the win, breaking CU's single-game points record, which had been eight. She tallied five goals and added four helpers, both career-highs.
