The Colorado men's golf team closed with two of the top team rounds in the University of Denver's Paintbrush Invitational, and in the process catapulted into a second-place finish Tuesday in Parker.

No. 3-ranked Oklahoma State distanced itself in the end and won by none strokes, as the Cowboys finished with a 14-under-par 850 score. The Buffaloes, ranked No. 19 in the nation, wrapped things up with consecutive 5-under-par 283 scores for an overall tally of 859, or 5 under. No. 7 Texas Tech was the only other school to finish under par, with an 861 score (minus-3). No. 14 and defending NCAA champion Oregon (868) and No. 40 New Mexico (871) rounded out the top five.

Only Colorado and Oklahoma State placed three among the top 10 finishers this week at the challenging Colorado Golf Club, which covers 7,357 yards and is a par-72 measure.

Senior Ethan Freeman led the CU effort, closing with a 4-under 68 for a 211 total, or 5 under, which netted him a sixth-place finish.

Senior Jeremy Paul had his best effort of the fall after traveling around the hemisphere in the last three weeks between the World Team Amateur Championships in Cancun and the first stage of web.com tour qualifying in Nebraska City. He fired a 3-under 69 to finish up with a 4-under 212, tying him for seventh place.

Junior Yannik Paul continued his solid play this fall, posting his fourth top 20 finish in five tries in tying for 10th with a 3-under 213 scorecard. He had an eagle, 11 birdies and 33 pars against eight bogeys and a double.
