The University of Colorado's men's golf team shot its best round of the week Wednesday — an even-par 288 — at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Tuscaloosa, Ala., but it wasn't enough to send the Buffs to the NCAA Championship. CU finished tied for eighth with a 26-over 890 total.

CU tied Lipscomb, 23 shots back of fifth-place and final national qualifier Auburn.

Individually, Junior Jeremy Paul led CU, tying for 21st on the 7,512-yard, Par-72 Ol' Colony Golf Course. He was 3-over 219 for the three-day tournament.

Fellow junior Ethan Freeman was three shots back, tied for 34th. Senior Philip Juel-Berg capped his career with an even-par 72, tying for 46th with a 10-over 226, while sophomore John Souza finished at 12-over 228 and freshman Wilson Beck carded a 16-over 232.

"It was a good final round, all five guys were in it all day which is important to score well," said CU head coach Roy Edwards.

Georgia led wire-to-wire to top SEC rival South Carolina by four shots for the team championship with 16-under-par 848. The Bulldogs' Greyson Sigg was the top medalist with a 9-under 207, one stroke ahead of South Carolina's Matthew NeSmith.
