using dead girl's card
A Florida football player was kicked off the team Friday after turning himself in on charges he used the gas credit card of a woman who was killed along with another player in a motorcycle accident.
Jamar Hornsby, a 21-year-old junior safety, learned Thursday that a judge had issued a warrant for his arrest on charges he used the dead woman's gas card for six months, so he surrendered on charges of credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card, lawyer Huntley Johnson said.
Hornsby allegedly had been using a BP gas card owned by James Slonina and used by his daughter, Ashley Slonina, a Florida student who was killed in a motorcycle accident along with UF football player Michael Guilford on Oct. 12 of last year. According to a sworn affidavit, Hornsby used the credit card from Oct. 13 to April 3.
James Slonina told Alachua County police that he believed Hornsby obtained the card on Oct. 13 while helping the Ashley Slonina's family remove her belongings from her apartment after she died.

Penn State cornerback Knowledge Timmons must serve a year in a probation program for first-time offenders after being charged with two misdemeanors. Timmons was charged with disorderly conduct and defiant trespass after an Oct. 7 fight that involved three other Penn State players.
Jackson State coach Rick Comegy said he is attempting to lure dismissed LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux to campus for a visit in hopes of signing the troubled player. Perrilloux could play right away if he decides to transfer to a Football Championship Subdivision team.
