KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Colorado's season ended with a thud.

The Buffs played valiantly once again on the defensive end but couldn't make enough shots or free throws and lost to fourth-seeded Oklahoma 54-49 in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament today at the Sprint Center.

Richard Roby scored 18 points and became CU's career scoring leader (2,001 points) but it wasn't enough to advance to the semifinals. Marcus Hall had 12 points and Cory Higgins added 11 for the No. 12-seeded Buffs.

Marcus King-Stockton and Jermyl Jackson-Wilson both fouled out in crunch time and the Sooners (22-10) seized a 51-44 lead moments later. The Buffs made one more run and cut the deficit to 51-49 on a Dwight Thorne 3-pointer with 30.2 seconds remaining.

But OU, which missed four consecutive free throws to keep the game interesting in the final minutes, made three key free throws to seal the win.

The Buffs, who shot 34.6 percent from the field, finish with a 12-20 record in Jeff Bzdelik's first season. The Sooners will play No. 1 Texas in the semifinals on Saturday.

That would have been a nice win. We fouled out our bigs with too much time. Oh what might have been!!!

The future is definitely bright for the Buffs!

This team showed more heart in the last 2 games than we have seen in this program in many years. The record doesn't really show how far this team has come this year.

Congratulations to Roby on breaking the scoring record. A year ago I wouldn't have rooted for him to break it, but he has finally shown the maturity needed to bring out his natural talent.
