Big 12 honors Spears, McFarland
Senior named first-team All-Big 12 again
The awards came rolling in Friday for the Colorado women's basketball team.

Senior forward Jackie McFarland received first-team All-Big 12 honors for the second consecutive year.
The list of awards for freshman forward Brittany Spears was longer.
Spears was named to the Big 12's all-rookie team. She earned honorable mention All-Big 12. And she was named the Big 12 rookie of the week.
McFarland joins Tera Bjorklund as the only other CU player to earn first-team All-Big 12 honors, and both were two-time selections.
McFarland averaged 17.8 points and 8.1 rebounds this season. She made 57 percent of her field goals, which was second best in the Big 12.
Spears became the first player in CU history to make the Big 12 all-rookie team, which is in its third year.
Spears became the second Buff ever to earn honorable mention All-Big as a freshman, joining Linda Lappe onthat list.
Spears led all Big 12 freshmen in scoring (13.8 ppg), rebounding (7.6 rpg) and blocked shots (1.5 bpg).
It was also the fourth time this season -- a record for a CU women's basketball player -- that Spears earned rookie of the week honors.
Kansas State senior Kimberly Dietz, a native Boulder who graduated from Monarch, was also earned first-team All Big 12 honors.
Oklahoma's Danielle Robinson was the freshman of the year, while teammate Courtney Paris was player of the year. Kansas State's Deb Patterson was coach of the year.
