Ex-Buff Hall will get chance with Knicks

Guard one of eight rookies on summer team

Former Colorado standout Marcus Hall has signed a contract to play for the New York Knicks' summer league team in Las Vegas from July 14-20.

Hall, who was second on the Buffs in scoring (14.0 ppg.) last season and set a CU record for minutes played (1,202), is one of 15 players and one of eight rookies on the roster. The Knicks will play six games on Madison Square Garden Network next week at the COX Pavilion on the campus of UNLV.

"I feel more than blessed with this opportunity," said Hall, whose first practice is on Friday. "I know I have a lot to do in becoming a New York Knick and there's a lot of hard work in front of me."

The Knicks have a new coach this year in Mike D'Antoni, who left the Phoenix Suns for the position in New York.

On Tuesday, CU's Richard Roby was signed by New Jersey to play on the Nets' summer league team at the Rocky Mountain Revue in Salt Lake City beginning July 21.

Roby finished his four-year collegiate career with 2,001 points, the most of any men's player in CU history. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard went undrafted after breaking his right hand during the Orlando pre-daft camp in May.
