Among the local athletes joining Mark Wetmore's program is Longmont grad Beau Brittenham. The former Trojan was the state runner-up in the triple jump in 2007 and finished fourth this spring.
Brianne Beemer (Loveland), Quinton Dodson (Denver), Katie Dreher (Salida), James Nixon (Centennial), Jake Timmons (Parker) and A.J. Whitaker (Denver) round out the local additions to the Buffs.
Dreher is a two-time state 3A champion in the triple jump. Dodson is the younger brother of CU senior All-American Jeremy Dodson.
Meanwhile, Javen Correia joins the Buffs after being named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Hawaii Track and Field. The hurdler was undefeated in his senior season and he notched times of 14.90 seconds (110m) and 39.49 (300m) in the state finals, which were the fastest in the state of Hawai'i for 2008.
Also joining the Buffs will be Kristofer Danielson (Los Angeles), Johnathan Intolubbe-Chmil (Charlottesville, Va.), Alyssa Frank (Union, Ky.), Kali Gajewski (Sedona, Ariz.), Brian Owens (Woodstown, N.J.) and Amber Rozier (Pearland, Texas).
The incoming freshmen will all be a part of the sprints, throws or combined events. The Buffs announced the signing of 15 distance athletes earlier in August.
