Buff netters fall in semis
CU now hopes for NCAA at-large bid
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- The Colorado tennis team saw its bid for its first conference title come to an end Saturday when the Buffs lost to top-seeded Baylor, 4-0, in the Big 12 tourney semifinals.
The Buffs, the No. 4 seed, saw their five-match win streak come to an end, and will now wait until Tuesday to see if they receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Buffs fell to 12-11 while Baylor, ranked No. 3 in the nation, improved to 27-2. Saturday's appearance in the semifinals was the fourth by the Buffs in program history.
The Bears won the doubles point on Saturday by getting straight-set wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, then taking straight-set victories at the next three singles slots.
Tuesday's NCAA draw will be aired at noon on ESPNews.
