K-Mac interviews for job at UCLA
CU coach one of two candidates
Colorado women's basketball coach Kathy McConnell-Miller is considered one of the top two candidates for the coaching job at UCLA.
McConnell-Miller was on the UCLA campus interviewing for the job on Tuesday.
Tennessee assistant coach Nikki Caldwell is the other top candidate for the UCLA job.
Colorado officials gave UCLA officials permission to talk to McConnell-Miller last Friday.
"It doesn't surprise me at all," CU athletic director Mike Bohn said Tuesday. "When we hired Kathy she was one of the finest up-and-coming coaches in the country. ... It's a compliment anytime an institution talks to your coach."
Bohn said late Tuesday night he didn't know whether McConnell-Miller would take the job.
McConnell-Miller has been at Colorado for three years and has a five-year contract with Colorado. She has been seeking a contract extension with CU.
Bohn said he had not offered McConnell-Miller an extension, although the two have talked about upgrading facilities in the program.
The Buffs went 9-21 in McConnell-Miller's first year at CU in 2005-06, and then 13-17 last year.
Colorado qualified for the women's NIT this season and made a run to the semifinals, where the Buffs lost to Marquette 86-72 for a 19-15 season. But the Buffs were a disappointing 5-11 in the Big 12 this season.
McConnell-Miller, who came to CU after coaching at Tulsa for six years, would not return messages from the Camera.
Caldwell, who has been an assistant on Pat Summitt's staff for six years, interviewed with UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero on Friday in Dallas and is expected to have another interview again in Los Angeles today.

Stick around Coach. It feels as though the program is about to turn the corner.
Also, LA v. Boulder? C'mon.

All you have to do is go 22 wins and 38 losses at a school that used to have a strong women's BBall program to get offered another job? A 36% winning percentage?

Unfortunately, if I were Mike Bohn, I'd start looking for a women's bball coach. Even if she doesn't take get offered the job, Mconnell Miller obviously thinks there are bigger and brighter programs.
Shame on us for our lack of facilities, shame on us for our lack of fans.
