Top players in women's Final Four

TAMPA, Fla. -- Candace Parker vs. Sylvia Fowles. Candice Wiggins vs. Maya Moore.

That's four first-team All-Americans. Some coaches say there's never been a Final Four with more talent.

"I was thinking about that the other day," said LSU coach Van Chancellor, whose Lady Tigers will take on Tennessee in today's second national semifinal. "I think this is the greatest star power we've had in our game. I think if you went out and asked the average fan to name four players, they could name all four players. That's great for our game."

Tennessee's Parker and Wiggins of Stanford -- with their nearly identical first names -- have earned the nicknames of "Ace" and "Ice" based on their different spellings.

Parker, recovering from a twice separated nonshooting shoulder sustained in Tuesday's win over Texas A&M, will surely be the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft come Wednesday, likely followed by Fowles of LSU. Then, probably Wiggins. And Connecticut's Moore, well, she's still only a freshman.

"I know Sylvia and Candace. They are just the top, the highest at our level," said Wiggins, averaging a tournament-best 28.0 points with two 40-point performances. "We've got great players here, too. I hope the country can see that, can see how much the women's game has advanced and what's to come."

GLOBAL REACH: Television ratings for the tournament are up 31 percent over last year, ESPN said.

The number of viewers increased in every round on both ESPN and ESPN2, according to information provided to the network by Nielsen Media Research.

Tuesday's championship game will be carried by ESPN International to 161 countries and territories outside the United States.

PARKER READY: Parker's been rehabbing her left shoulder constantly the last few days after dislocating it twice in the Oklahoma City Regional final and is ready to play against LSU tonight in the national semifinals.
