Former CU recruit set to face Buffaloes
Fountain's Loadholt checks in at 6-8, 352 for Sooners
Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford and running backs Allen Patrick and DeMarco Murray are getting most of the attention and credit for the Sooners' sensational start on offense.
And they all deserve to share the spotlight.

Third-ranked OU is 4-0 and averaging 61.5 points per game entering Saturday's game against Colorado at Folsom Field (11:30 a.m., FSN).
But the revamped offensive line — led by Fountain product Phil Loadholt — is the reason why the faithful in Norman believe the Sooners will be competing in the BCS championship game in January.
OU is averaging 5.8 yards per rush, 11.1 yards per pass play and has only allowed two sacks in 112 pass attempts.
"We've done pretty well up to this point," Loadholt said. "There are still a lot of things we can do better."
The 6-foot-8, 352-pound Loadholt is the Sooners' new starting left tackle. After his father was stationed at Fort Carson in 1993, he grew up to become a three-sport star at Fountain-Fort Carson High School.
And, yes, Loadholt was recruited by CU coming out of high school. He even gave Gary Barnett a verbal commitment before "some grade problems" led to his enrollment at Garden City Community College.
Loadholt was a two-time junior college All-American, the Jayhawk Conference lineman of the year in 2006, and was also named to the school's 3.0 student excellence list.
Enter, Bob Stoops.
"After junior college I pretty much knew where I wanted to play," said Loadholt, who enrolled at OU in January. "During the recruiting process the coaches told me that we were going to have a special team here."
So far it certainly looks like the Sooners staff was right.
Despite losing Adrian Peterson to the NFL, OU is averaging 252.2 yards rushing and 310 yards passing per game.
"We've always been known as a great university for tailbacks and we have a lot of talent at tailback this year," Loadholt said. "We also have a lot of talent at quarterback, and when you have guys like that it gives the offensive coordinator the chance to open it up."
Allen and DeMarco have already combined for 602 net yards rushing and 11 touchdowns, and Chris Brown and Mossis Madu have added 235 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Bradford, a redshirt freshman who didn't emerge as the starter until the preseason, has 14 touchdowns and two interceptions this season while completing 78.1 percent of his passes.
"He's done a great job," Loadholt said. "He takes control in the huddle and he's the real leader on this team."
Loadholt said he is "very excited" to play at Folsom Field and will have a large number of family and friends in attendance at CU's homecoming game.
But is there a chance the rest of the visitors are looking ahead to the Oct. 6 Red River Shootout against Texas?
"We're definitely not overlooking Colorado," Loadholt said. "They're one of the best defenses we've faced up to this point. We're definitely not overlooking them. ...
"We have to prepare week-in, week-out. And as long as we do everything right and don't stop ourselves, we feel like we should be all right."
CU's starting right defensive tackle, Alonzo Barrett (6-3, 235), is looking forward to the challenge matching up with Loadholt on Saturday.
"He's a big guy," Barrett said. "I go against Tyler Polumbus (6-8, 300 pounds) every day, so I get that picture."

"Grade Problems"---now it is obvious why he ended up at "No Academic Standards"-U, oh I mean OU.
Sadly this is a reality CU fans must face annually----the inability to academically qualify recruits with a 3rd grade reading level.

Spurrier ran into this problem at South Carolina and made the admins change their policies to give more kids a chance at college. Too bad CU has boulderites that run their school...

Hey, the kid turned it around and landed on that excellence list. Just goes to prove that not all admissions decisions are correct. The kid buckled down and got it done, while some of the 4.0 students CU lets in every year hit the booze and teh women and become 2.0 students. Our admissions standards are sometimes idiotic. This goes for every potential student, not just football players.

wow. now we have gone from football talk to where we would rather live. (although I agree that Boulder is much more desireable than Norman) As far as the NFL - who cares. This is a college football site. How much NFL playing time are Troy Smith and Chris Leak getting? I bet OU would have liked to have one of these guys running their offense the last couple of years even though neither one will ever be a great pro. Cody will never be a great pro. That doesn't mean he won't be an adequate college QB. And hopfully this kid Loadhult doesn't blow out a knee or his Associates degree (aka 14th grade graduation) isn't going to lead to much of a non football career.

Can we please start talking a little college football on this site? I think our offensive line must come up big against the sooners. If Miller and Maiava get some PT it'll be interesting to see how they do against elite competition. I also think shutting down OU's ground game will be essential. If OU puts up big numbers on the ground it could get ugly.
What do you guys think about K-State taking down Texas this week? Texas hasn't impressed me yet this year and K-State looks to have another strong club.
How about the Cal-Oregon game? I don't think Nate Longshore has the stones to go into rockin' Autzen stadium and come out with a win. I see DeSean Jackson as the X-factor in this one. If he goes big and gets a couple scores, Cal takes this one down.

turned it around? at a community college? a chimp that has learned sign language could get a 3.0 at community college.

Our run defense is pretty solid, I would expect them to be forced into throwing downfield...hopefully in T-Wheat's direction. Our O-line has been exhausted all season--Maiava and Miller will give them a shot of life.
KState has a decent shot but I think Texas just has too much depth---they aren't spectacular but they play fresh for four quarters.
Oregon is favored by nearly a touchdown and I think they'll win by 10, Cal struggles on the road but this game will be a shootout so anything can happen.

Minnesota - I believe Maiava is going to start at left guard tomorrow. Miller will see some time as well.

This kid is a perfect example of why Coach Hawk has such an uphill climb to get CU back to national prominence. It is very unlikely that this player would have qualified academically for CU when he was coming out of his JC. Most other big-time universities DO have special allowances and provisions for their athletes; especially football and men's basketball. Whether or not you think that is a bad thing or a good thing is irrelevant. It simply is true. And CU isn't going to change their admissions standards. So, those of us who choose to support the program should stop whining about not getting the players who clearly don't belong at an institution of higher learning and just support those kids who do belong. I'm not trying to harsh on any particular kid but a quality ACADEMIC university has standards that have to be met. There are plenty of excellent students out there who are also excellent football players. Let's give Hawk a few years to find them. Go Buffs!

I can't believe all the vulgar comments posted by all the CU fans, then again to expect anything different would be a complete and udder shock. CU fans will go to any length to put someone down whether it's bashing another football team or where you live and go to school....all in order to make themselves feel better. I am originally from Oklahoma but have called Colorado home for over 20 years and all the money in the world wouldn't change my mind about supporting the home team. I will be going to the game tomorrow and supporting the football team who will show CU how football is played. To all of the above who say we are a** backwards and have a third grade reading level let me just say that while words may hurt, actions speak much louder and your immaturity speaks volumes. I would never think about stuffing batteries in marshmallows and hitting the visiting fans with them just because your team sucks and isn't winning the game. You should all be ashamed and embarrassed as you have a reputation for being nasty, rude and vulgar. And we are third grade?? Please, do me a favor and grow up a bit. Then maybe you will be considered on a level playing field with other teams in your division! GO OU!!!!!

We may be considered to be rude and vulgar, which are high school vocabulary words, so I congratulate you on figuring out how to use a dictionary. Fans of CU actually went to CU, while most fans of OU ARE a** backwards hicks from the boonies with first grade reading levels. Just look at the OU jerk that ripped of someones balls for an example right there. And really, how often do you hear of an OU grad doing anything, like politics, or becoming an astronaut... oh... never. For all the OU fans reading this, enjoy your football team, it IS the pinnacle of your lives. For all the CU fans reading this, enjoy looking back on this in 20 years from the VP's office of whichever company you work for.

OUfan22 (by the way, thanks for using a straightforward username, instead of calling yourself No1BuffsFanEver or something like that), what vulgar comments are you talking about? All we're saying is that the Buffs football team has higher academic standards than the Sooners, which is about as true as a statement could get (want some proof? Read the article this discussion is attached to).
Beyond that OUfan, where on this board do you see people saying "oh man, if CU doesn't win, I'm gonna throw so many batteries at OU's fans, it's gonna be AWESOME!!" I have no idea where this batteries/marshmallows story started, but the halftime marshmallow fight hasn't happened at Folsom for at least 4 years (if you ask current students about it, they'll have no idea what you're talking about). Apart from that, in the era of ipods, who uses batteries for anything anymore?
Here's an idea: How about you go to the game with an open mind this week, then complain afterwards if anything actually happens to you? Seems like a much better plan than coming into the game complaining about something that may or may not have happened to someone other than yourself 20 years ago, doesn't it?

OUFan, we have a reputation for being rude. I would like to remind you, as I did 2ndBuff, about OU fans' behaviour. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,2...
So after living in Colorado for 20 years, did you become a Sooner fan after the year 2000? I guess that there were not too many Sooner Fans in 90s when the Buffs totally and completely dominated OU.

"Baseless trash comments"? READ THIS ARTICLE 2ndbuff!! The comments being made about OU's lack of academic standards are far from baseless; they have base, they are SO based! There's base lying all over this place - there is quite literally base here, and there is base in ya ya, and there is base strewn about over the ENTIRE distance between those two geographical points.
And aside from that, what exactly do you expect people to be saying in these comment areas? Making fun of other schools is part of what makes college football fun. Just look at how you and your Sooner cronies love to make fun of Texas fans by saying they have sex with cattle, or how Texas fans love to make jokes about you and your Sooner cronies having... well, having sex with cattle. Hey, I didn't say you guys were creative, I just said it's part of what makes college football fun.
You know what's not fun though? When some jackass spends all of his time badmouthing a school, then acts all offended and innocent when the people from that school badmouth his school. That's not fun. You're not fun. You're the anti-fun. If Christ was fun, you'd be Judas.
Blasphemer.

To all.....
Yes CU fans have been mean and evil to opposing fans in the past. Most of the time it is to NU fans. I was at the Texas game in 2004 and thier fans were as bad and rude as any, but only a few, as it is in most cases. I have been to games at TTech, USC, OU. Ou fans were very gracious in 1989 when we won, TTech fans can be bad as they have been known to throw batteries at opposing teams (TX A&M) and USC fans were great, although it was in Pete Carrol's first year and they were still trying to get fans. If you have attended a game recently and been harrased, please give details. and as was stated above to OUFan 22, after attending the game then judge.

I LOVE how upset I am making all of you and you have proved my point on how RIDICULOUS and RUDE you truly are! Do you think you are the ONLY school who produces VP's and other successful people?? Ha, what a joke!!! I see you constantly bragging about the fact that you are a higher institution for learning but you are not the ONLY higher institution for learning. Until you've gone to Princeton, Yale, Harvard or anyone of those schools, I don't really think you hold a candle. Even if you did, your attitude towards anyone who lives outside of Boulder is pathetic and sad. Who in their right mind would WANT to go to CU?? I live in Denver and even work with a guy who graduated from CU who also thinks you all need to get a healthy dose of reality but regardless why are you so upset if what I'm saying isn't true? Why do you spend so much time defending everything? Why do you feel you have to go above and beyond to "prove" that your school is the best? If it was truly the best you wouldn't have to give me and everyone else in the world all the "selling points." If you want to be considered a higher institution of learning why don't you start acting like it. Really, stop excusing your child like behavior. Take your money (since it seems to be all that matters to you in life) and shove it up your a**!!! There are more important things in life and while you may have awards and achievements.....blah, blah, blah.....you DON'T and NEVER will have a football team!! CU football.....so PATHETIC a caveman could do it!!! And regarding the marshmallows.....if it was such a "harmless" activity among your fans, why are marshmallows now banned from the stadium??? Be prepared for the SLAUGHTER tomorrow!!!!!

Attention everyone: I found the part in OUFan22's latest post that made sense.
If you'll look a few lines down in his gigantic paragraph of doom, you'll see a passage where he deftly notes "I live in Denver..." This is the key note. This is where cohesion and brilliance forge a single intersection; this is where OUFan22 defies the odds and says something that's actually true AND makes sense. I cannot deny it, the man does in fact live in Denver.
Good work OUFan, but while your fragment is nice, next time try creating a whole sentence that makes sense. If you have to, feel free to scrawl out a rough draft in crayon on the back of the Denny's placemat you've been using as a mousepad for the past 3 weeks. I believe in you OUFan22, you can do it!

2ndbuff - Thanks for the link to the story about Rex Grossman being too small to play QB. I know some of the folks on this Board don't like to hear the facts about Cody but: Grossman is 4 inches taller than Cody (2 inches if you accept the height that CU lists him); weighs 27 pounds more than Cody; is certainly faster than Cody; and has a much better arm than Cody!

Bash all the kids who don't pick CU, especially the ones from Colorado. What's wrong with that? I hope they all make they terrible teams they are playing for worse. It's a CU-centric view - something we need more of in these parts. Not only do I blame loadbut, but I blame him for not making the grade initially. He knew he commited to CU, not OU, Kstate, Nu, etc.
You can gain admittance to OU if you spell 'cat' after they spot you the 'c' and the 'a'.

From the foxnews story: "Like Beckett and Thomas, many fans of the two college squads never attended either university, but have come to identify so closely with these teams that they attach banners to their cars, wear team colors on game day and even have programmed their car horns to play school fight songs.
Dallas police Sgt. Andy Harvey, a 12-year veteran of the force, said it's not uncommon for fights to break out between fans of the two school."

Hey OUFan22...I would retort with the same langue using the little ****** but alas I do not really care how I spell, having two masters degrees. You prove the fact that OU and NU fans move to Colorado for because it is far better than your home states and then cannot take any good nature ribbing.....yes you do need anger management!

give OUfan, 2nd Buff a break. they are trying to express themselves. correct spelling has always been optional at the university of norman, and in sooner world in general. rational thought, good taste, well, forget it. their atheletic house has been set on a foundation of cheating; the concepts of "student-athelete" and "fair play", have never seemed of any importance there.
