TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — For the second year in a row, Jenny Barringer took second place at the NCAA cross country championships.
The University of Colorado junior finished in a time of 19 minutes, 47.8 seconds on the 6-kilometer course. She was 16.9 seconds back of Texas Tech's Sally Kipyego, who won for the second year in a row.
Barringer's performance paced the CU women to a 23rd-place team finish. Sara Vaughn placed 31st in her first race at nationals.
The Buffalo men, ranked second in the country entering the event, finished a disappointing seventh place.
Senior Brent Vaughn led the way, making up six spots over the final 3K to place fifth. Stephen Pifer was 34th.
