CU's Alex Cousins gets a kick away before Jessica Domingo of Hawaii can get to her.
The Colorado women’s soccer team defeated Hawaii 2-0 in today's first round of the NCAA tournament at Prentup Field.
Junior Gianna DeSaverio and freshman Mel Hicks scored the goals for CU, which improved to 10-7-4 on the season.
DeSaverio’s goal was the first allowed by Hawaii in six matches. Hawaii dropped to 15-5-2 with the season-ending loss.
CU is now 4-4-1 in NCAA tournament play and advances to the second round for the third straight season. The Buffs will play Portland, a 5-0 winner over Denver on Friday, at 1 p.m. Sunday at Prentup Field.
