Crosby's number goes uncalled
ENGLEWOOD — Mason Crosby's right leg wasn't enough of a commodity for any NFL teams to draft the former Colorado Buffalo on the first day of the NFL draft on Saturday.
No Buffs, or kickers for that matter, were selected in the first three rounds.

The strong-legged Crosby is widely considered the best kicker in the draft, but NFL teams are generally reluctant to spend a pick on a kicker or punter on the first day of the draft. Rounds 4-7 begin today at 9 a.m.
"It's a little disappointing," Crosby said by telephone from his home in Georgetown, Texas. "There were indications of third-round stuff and nothing materialized."
A year ago coming off of a stellar junior season, Crosby's draft status was soaring. But he decided to return to CU for his senior year, and he and the Buffs had rougher seasons in 2006.
Crosby said no teams contacted him on Saturday to give him any indication of when he might get selected.
"I was obviously hoping for first day but I've had an open mind that it could be from the second to fifth round," Crosby said. "I've just got to hope for a short day (today)."
Other Buffs who could hear their name called in the later rounds today are defensive end Abraham Wright, linebacker Thaddaeus Washington and defensive back Terry Washington.
