Another national title for CU cross country team

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The University of Colorado won its fifth cross country national title on Monday and took home another runner-up trophy.

The men's cross country team beat second-place Wisconsin by 38 points for their third national title. Brent Vaughn was the top finisher for the Buffs after taking 12th place in a time of 31:13.0. Stephen Pifer was 20th in 31:24.2.

The women's team finished second overall, 28 points behind heavily favored Stanford. Jenny Barringer paced the Buffs with a second-place finish in a time of 20:37.9. Liza Pasciuto was the second-highest Buff with a 16th-place finish in a time of 21:09.7.

CU coach Mark Wetmore was named the men's coach of the year. Wetmore has coached all of the Buffs' national championship teams. He previously won team titles with the men in 2001 and 2004. He won titles with the women in 2000 and 2004. This was his second consecutive second-place team finish with the women.
