If not for a series of coaching changes that ultimately altered the course of his recruitment, Colorado point guard McKinley Wright would have been a member of the Dayton Flyers.
Next year, Wright will get a change to face Dayton.
On Tuesday, CU announced that coach Tad Boyle's men's basketball program will travel to Chicago to face Dayton at the United Center on Dec. 21, 2019. The game will be part of the Chicago Legends doubleheader, with Iowa taking on Cincinnati in the event's other game.
Wright originally was committed to Dayton, but when former coach Archie Miller left the program to take the head coach job at Indiana, Wright re-opened his recruiting and eventually landed in Boulder.
CU hasn't played Dayton since the first game of the Charleston Classic in November 2012. The Buffs have never played at the United Center and haven't played in the Chicago area since opening the 2003-04 season at Northwestern.
It is the first confirmed date for CU's 2019-20 schedule, though the Buffs also are committed to a road date at Colorado State and a home game against San Diego.
Television, tipoff and ticketing information will be released at a later date.
