With a roster featuring seven active players who have yet to play a minute of college basketball, Colorado head coach Tad Boyle is attempting to impart wisdom wherever a lesson can be found. This week, he hasn't been shy about making sure his youngsters took note of the big game Buffs quarterback Steven Montez turned in against Cal following a public challenge to his starting job from coach Mike MacIntyre.

"We used the Steven Montez example with our team," Boyle said. "Look what he went through at Washington State. The coaches made the decision and he came back and guess what? He responded. That's a great lesson for our guys. How do you respond to adversity? How do you respond to maybe something that you're not too excited about or proud of or whatever. Steven Montez responded. We want our players not to learn just from their own experiences, but let's learn from other people's experience as well."
