A busy offseason for Colorado men's basketball coach Tad Boyle is beginning even sooner than expected.
Boyle has been named one of the head coaches for the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division I All-Star game on Friday at the University of Phoenix Stadium, site of this weekend's Final Four. Boyle will coach the West team in a game set to begin at 4:35 p.m. MDT. It will be televised live on CBS Sports Network.
Boyle's team will feature two Pac-12 rivals in UCLA's Bryce Alford and Washington State's Josh Hawkinson. The West squad also includes Nathan Adrian (West Virginia), Sterling Brown (SMU), Deonte Burton (Iowa State), Paris Lee (Illinois State), Ben Moore (SMU), Luke Nelson (UC Irvine), DeWayne Russell (Grand Canyon), Rashawn Thomas (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) and Derek Willis (Kentucky).
The East team will be led by Georgia Tech coach Josh Pastner.
This summer, Boyle will serve as an assistant on the US U19 World Cup team, which will train in Colorado Springs in late June before traveling to the World Cup in Cairo, Egypt July 1-9. The Buffaloes also will take a team trip to Italy in August.
Boyle owns a 149-95 record in seven seasons at CU and is 205-160 overall in 11 seasons as a Division I head coach.
