SAN FRANCISCO -- Every other year, the NCAA reviews its rules and makes some changes. This year, there were 28 changes to the rule book. Perhaps most notable is how fouls will be called on hand checking, freedom of movement and blocks/charges.
"Early on (in the season), I would expect we're going to have more whistles in a basketball game," said Bobby Dibler, the Pac-12's new coordinator of men's basketball officiating.
Dibler also said there will probably be more blocks called than charges, especially early on.
Last year, officiating was heavily in criticized in the Pac-12, but the conference has taken steps to improve it. Dibler said the conference will grade every official's calls and non-calls.
