With 10 underclassmen -- including six freshmen that have never played a minute of college basketball -- the Buffs are young. That has made practice a bit of a challenge for the coaches.
"Youth is a challenge every day," CU coach Tad Boyle said. "Youth will not be an excuse. It's a fact and it's a fact that ... as a coach, keeps me up at night, and keeps me dialed in to having good practices every day."
Two weeks into practice, Boyle said he has been encouraged by the progress of his youngsters.
"Our young guys are hopefully understanding the pace and the intensity you have to play with at this level," he said. "We do have some talented guys that when they put it all together, good things can happen. The problem is we're not consistent with that effort."
Guards Spencer Dinwiddie and Askia Booker both missed Tuesday's practice because of illnesses. Boyle said both should be back soon.
