The Colorado men's golf team appears to have turned things around rather quickly.

In their last tournament, the Buffs finished 15th out of 15 teams at The Prestige at PGA West. After one round at the Bandon Dunes Championship on Friday, the Buffs are in tied for second place and just one stroke out of the lead in Oregon.

Oregon leads the event after turning in a 2-over par team score of 290. Colorado and Missouri-Kansas City are tied for second at 291.

"It was a solid day overall by the guys who counted for us," Colorado head coach Roy Edwards said.

Senior Jason Burstyn and sophomore David Oraee turned in even-par 72s on the Old Macdonald Course. They are tied for eighth and two strokes behind Fresno State's Troix Tonkham SMU's Harry Higgs who lead the tournament.

Freshman Philip Juel-Berg is tied for 15th after a 1-over 73 and senior Derek Fribbs carded a 2-over 74 (tied for 23rd).

Redshirt freshman Drew Trujillo is playing in his fifth tournament this year, but the first where his scores count toward the CU team total. He struggled and carded an 11-over 83.

The second round of the tournament is today and the tournament concludes Sunday.
