The CU senior is in second place at the UCLA Gifford Collegiate Championship, two strokes back of Oklahoma State`s Peter Uihlein. Bardgett has a two-round total of 135 (68-67) and Uihlein is at 133 (68-65).
Stanford`s Sihwan Kim is one stroke behind Bardgett in third place.
Bardgett had seven birdies and two bogeys en route to his 5-under 67 Tuesday. The score matches his collegiate career best that he posted last month at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational.
"My putting has been really good, and I`m keeping the ball in front of me and not making big numbers," Bardgett said. "(I`m) two shots back, so I figure if I can shoot in the upper 60s, a 67, 68 or maybe a 66, if I can go out and shoot a good number like that it will be interesting to see what happens."
As a team, the Buffs moved up two spots to ninth place (722). No. 2 Stanford owns the lead a 36-hole total of 704 because five golfers contribute to the team score instead of just four.
The tournament`s final round is today and marks the last of CU`s fall 2009-10 season.
