Playing in a field that includes six top-50 teams, CU shot a two-round team total of 13-under-par 555. The Buffs trail host California by 10 strokes heading into today`s final round. No. 24 Oregon is second at 550. No. 2 Oregon is fourth at 556.
The Buffs started strong early on the 6,708-yard, par-71 Meadow Club Course, and they finished each round strong to stay near the top of the team standings.
Sophomore Sebastian Heisele sits tied for sixth individually after shooting a 6-under 136 total, including a collegiate personal-best round of 66 on his second 18 holes of the day.
Senior Justin Bardgett is just one stroke back, tied for eighth. Kevin Kring is at 139 for a share of 16th. Freshman Derek Fribbs and junior Michael Imperato, meanwhile, contributed one round each to the team score.
"The course was much harder in the afternoon after the wind started to blow, and I was real proud of the round we put together," CU coach Roy Edwards said.
Today`s final round begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
